PSYCHOTHERAPIST

Arianna Karacostas

I am a professor of Psychology in the International Baccalaureate program at the College of Athens. My Masters is in Social Psychology with a specialization in social and personal identity conflict and its effects on mental health. I am trained in Systemic and Family Therapy at the Athens Center for the Study of Man.

My clinical practice includes a wide range of individual and group psychotherapy for adults and adolescents with anxiety and emotional disorders, identity problems as well as counseling support for parents and families. I have completed an internship in Psychological assessment and Learning assessment of children and adolescents at the Medical Education Center of Neos Heraklion. I have attended numerous seminars on child and family support in divorce, bereavement and dealing with serious illness, seminars on Animating Adolescent and Youth Groups and seminars on Child and Adolescent Psychopathology.

Adolescence is a time of intense challenge and conflict that affects the whole family. Moving away from childhood, changes in the body and the loss of the stability of parental relationships lead many teenagers to stress of disorganization and rupture of relationships. In this transitional period, a psychotherapeutic intervention can be of pivotal importance and support the adolescent in the exploration of self, body and identity.
